Lodge Brakpan – Where Masons Become Friends, and Friends Become Masons
Freemasonry around the world has faced the challenge of declining membership, resulting in the closure of a number of Lodges. In South Africa, this challenge is further influenced by concerns surrounding crime, safety and security, particularly when travelling at night.
It was with these realities in mind that Lodge Brakpan has embraced a new role as a Day Lodge, providing Brethren with the opportunity to continue enjoying their Masonic journey without the need to travel in the evenings.
Our District now has a welcoming home for retired, non-active and returning Masons who would like to remain connected to mainstream Freemasonry, while enjoying a more relaxed approach to Lodge activities. Lodge Brakpan provides an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, renew Masonic relationships and enjoy the fellowship of like-minded Brethren.
An Invitation to Reconnect
We encourage every Mason in our District to reach out to former Masons, Masonic friends and Brethren who have become less active in Lodge life. Invite them to visit Lodge Brakpan and rediscover the friendship, fellowship and brotherhood that Freemasonry offers.
Lodge Brakpan meets at 11:00am on the first Tuesday of every month at the Scottish Masonic Centre, Grace Avenue, Parkhill Gardens, Germiston.
Interesting Talks and Fellowship
Lodge Brakpan specialises in presenting interesting and engaging talks, particularly for older and retired Masons. Topics range from Masonic matters to health, retirement, wildlife, war stories, hunting and many other subjects of interest.
The Lodge also plans to build relationships with organisations such as Round Table, Rotary, the Moths, the Buffaloes, the Honorary Rangers and other similar organisations. Representatives will be invited to share their experiences and knowledge with our Brethren, while Lodge Brakpan will also have the opportunity to present talks to these organisations.
Through these interactions, we hope to build lasting friendships and strengthen our connection with the wider community. In doing so, we may also introduce new friends to the
While our primary focus is on welcoming older, retired and returning Masons, we also welcome the interest of younger men who may wish to learn more about Freemasonry. Those interested in joining will be referred to the nearest Scottish Lodge within the District for further assistance.
